Abrianna
My Story:
My name is Abrianna Choate, and if I could divide the things I strive for into four categories, they would be: the Gospel, my family, my home, and the outdoors. Within those four categories, there are hundreds of subcategories and even more subcategories under those! I’ve always had this problem—at 14, I remember stopping and thinking, “Why do I have all these passions going on? I can’t ever be good at anything if I’m chasing everything.” At the time, I was into music, writing a book, knitting, calligraphy… the list goes on.
Now, here I am, 33 years old, a born-again Christian, married to the love of my life for nearly 12 years, and a mom to three beautiful blessings. I’m also a business owner running multiple businesses. Again, it goes back to having so many passions and loves—and the art of being busy. Creativity has always been a part of me, but stress can really stifle that spark. After having three kids, the joy I found in baking, writing, and drawing faded, and I focused solely on survival. Seven years into motherhood, I’m still working on that “survival” part, but thankfully, my creative spirit has come back after some changes we made in our business.
I live a busy lifestyle and love everything that’s slow and organized—oxymoron, right? I know! I’m the second of seven children, and the first six are girls. I was raised in a Christian home and spent several years on the mission field. I had a wonderful childhood, but I am who I am today because, 11 years ago, Jesus Christ changed my life and I became a Christian in possession not just profession.
Welcome to Rhythm and Roots—where my ideas come to life in front of you. Remember those four categories I mentioned? They’re all mixed into this one title. “Rhythm” comes from life, the movement and changes within it. Sometimes it seems hectic, sometimes peaceful, but we go with it because we know God is with us. Organization and Time management is my jam, and I am my happiest self when I’m extremely accomplished and productive. It’s also a nod to my love for music. As a child, I took classical piano lessons. People said I was talented, but really, I just loved it—except for the counting! Funny enough, as an adult, I now love the structure and peace rhythm provides. It brings reasoning, beauty, focus, and clarity—a calm in the midst of a stressful world.
“Roots” is because I am rooted in Jesus Christ. “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love” (Ephesians 3:17, KJV). When I realized this 11 years ago, my whole life changed. I am His, and He is mine—what more could I ask for? I want my children to be so rooted in Him that their faith becomes unshakable, their roots so strong and intertwined that nothing can pull them out of Jesus Christ. He is their firm foundation in a world that often feels dark and foreboding. Like deep, unbreakable roots anchoring a tree through any storm, I want their faith to stand strong, no matter what life throws their way.
I also have a deep love for the outdoors, so the word “Roots” seemed to fit perfectly. As a missionary kid in Papua New Guinea, living on a mountaintop in the middle of nowhere, I know all about slowing down and relying on nature. We collected rainwater from the roof, had no electricity, and there was always a lingering wonder about whether the locals might ever decide to harm us. But life was slow. We celebrated rainy seasons and afternoon downpours, coming home after hours of walking to hot rice, rich ramen noodles, and PNG tea. Oh, the life—the jungle noise all around you, the peace in the chaos. Just listen, and you’ll hear it. I think I love the outdoors because the order God Provides yet sin came and destroyed it and here we are forever trying to conquer and tame that land we all dwell on. Beautiful gardens, lush pastures, gorgeous flower beds. Yes…. Give it all to me.
This website and blog are here to encourage you to settle into a rhythm that works for you and your family to truly enjoy the time you have with each other. To grow and understand the World around you. To know that we all have a purpose and that purpose is to the Praise of Jesus Christ our Lord.
